POTSDAM Village police have arrested a Potsdam sex offender they say failed to register a change of address.
Christopher J. Burkum, 40, was wanted under a St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Department warrant, village police said, and he was turned over to the Sheriffs Department following his arrest at 8:58 p.m. Tuesday.
Village police did not indicate where Burkum was living.
State sex-offender records indicate that his most recent address was 53 North St., Madrid, and that he was convicted in Wisconsin in 2005 for a crime against a 15-year-old girl. Wisconsin sex-offender records show Burkum was convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a child, and his most recent address is listed in their registry as 64 Benton Road, Potsdam.
Burkum was sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, in lieu of $1,500 bail.
