SYRACUSE — Jennifer Deuel scored a game-high 26 points to help power No. 2 Whitesboro to a 58-39 Section 3 Class A girls basketball semifinal victory over No. 3 Carthage on Friday at Onondaga Community College.

Maria Lapertosa added 13 points for Whitesboro (15-5).

For the Comets, Zakiya Saunders generated 24 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Kendra Bates scored nine points, and Gabby O’Brien recorded four rebounds and two blocks for Carthage (13-7).
