The organizers of the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club Youth Basketball Tournament have announced that the tourney has been named for the late George Swan. Swan was a lifelong resident of Ogdensburg and wonderful supporter of youth sports and young people throughout his lifetime.
The tournament has been named the George Swan Memorial Tournament for the benefit of the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club.
The tournament is also the largest boys basketball tournament held in Ogdensburg and features a fifth Grade, a Sixth Grade and a Seventh-Eighth Grade Division.
The Fifth Grade Division features teams from Ogdensburg, Malone, Gouverneur and South Jefferson. The Sixth Grade Division includes Ogdensburg, Canton, South Jefferson and Lisbon.
The Seventh Grade features: Ogdensburg, Lisbon, Norwood-Norfolk, Canton (Gordon), Canton (Lorenc), the Post 8793 Veterans and Hammond.
Games will be held at the adjoining gyms at Ogdensburg Free Academy and at the Tom Luckie Sr. Court at the OBGC.
Games will begin on Saturday at 8 a.m. and the first days action will conclude at 1 p.m.
The championship games will all be held at the OBGC Gym. The Fifth Grade finals will be held at 1 p.m., the Sixth Grade finals will be held at 2 p.m. and the Seventh-Eighth Grade finals will be held at 6 p.m.
