CANTON - SUNY Canton Interim President Carli C. Schiffner will be leaving her post on July 31 to take a new position as vice president of instruction at Wenatchee Valley College in Wenatchee, WA.
The news was announced in a press release from SUNY this afternoon.
Ms. Schiffner served as the colleges provost before taking the interim president position in September 2012, replacing Joseph L. Kennedy.
This was a very difficult decision for me to make, however, this is an opportunity that both personally and professionally I could not turn down, Ms. Schiffner said in a statement, adding that she is moving to Washington to be close to her family that lives there.
Ms. Schiffner will be stepping down at the same time as SUNY Potsdam President John F. Schwaller, who announced his resignation in November.
The SUNY Board of Trustees will receive recommendations from Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher for interim presidents for both the Canton and Potsdam campuses.
Both announcements come as SUNY urges both campuses to share more administrative services. However, SUNY will initiate separate presidential services for both Canton and Potsdam in Fall 2013.
