Two Fort Drum men were charged with second-degree criminal impersonation after Watertown police stopped a vehicle driven by Joshua B. Peterson, 21, of 20674 Munns Corners Road, Apt. 203C, Fort Drum, in the 800 block of State Street early Sunday.

Mr. Peterson and his passenger, Travon M. McClinton, 21, of 13602 Munns Corners Road, Apt. 246, Fort Drum, were arrested at 2:25 a.m. after Mr. McClinton tried to cover for his friend, who was driving with a suspended license, by telling police that he was Mr. Peterson, according to police.

Mr. McClinton was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment Sunday.

Mr. Peterson was held on a warrant from Watertown City Court pending arraignment Sunday. He also was issued citations for aggravated unlicensed operation and having a headlight out, answerable to City Court.
