SPEEDING - POTSDM - Village police ticketed Brendan J. Carberry, 22, of Hague for speed not reasonable or prudent at 7:25 p.m. Tuesday following a property damage accident on the Clarkson University access road near the water tower. Police said Carberry was operating his vehicle above the posted speed limit and lost control of the vehicle rounding the curve. The vehicle entered the ditch and rolled over on its side, though, Carberry was not injured, police said. Martins Towing Service was utilized to remove the vehicle from the scene.

0745 Potsdam Rescue dispatched to a call on the Old State Road.
0830 Village police assisted Governor Cuomos security detail at his public address at Clarkson University.
0840 Village police conducted a scheduled disaster response drill with members of the SUNY Potsdam Police Department, Potsdam Village DPW and school staff at the Potsdam Central High School.
1447 Patrol received a report of a potential abuse case that occurred on Market Street yesterday.
1715 Patrol received a report of a gas drive off. It was determined to be an error at the pump.
1925 Patrol responded to a one vehicle roll-over accident on the Clarkson Campus.
1947 Dispatched Potsdam Rescue to a call in Norwood.
2000 Patrol received a report from a town resident of a telephone scam. The caller, reporrtedly from another country, informs the person here that one of their relatives was visiting abroad and somehow ran afoul of the police in that foreign country. They usually request that the person locally send money via a wire service such as Western Union, and they may solicit a second or third wire transfer if the first one is made. Please be vigilant and check with your relatives to determine if the person that the caller claims to be in trouble is actually in that country. Also the telephone number for the American consulate in any specific country can be obtained by calling the U.S. Department of State at 1-800-877-8339.
2148 Patrol received a request from an out of state family member to check on the welfare of a town resident. The incident was referred to the Sheriffs Department. The caller later informed the police department that she had found her sister. The Sheriffs Department was notified.
