CANTON - St. Lawrence NYSARC, a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to working for and with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has announced a generous donation from a group of local young people.
Potsdam residents Sammie Frick, Rachael Clements and Rhiannon Clements donated more than $700 to St. Lawrence NYSARCs Gallery of Arts and Learning (GOAL), located on Main Street in Canton.
The teens conducted a Read-a-Thon to raise the money for this project. They have organized Read-a-Thons for the past six years and have earned more than $5,000 for various organizations.
Sammie, Rachael and Rhiannon said they were inspired to donate to GOAL because of a desire to further educational pursuits for other young people.Much of the support from this donation comes from the members of the Methodist Church in Potsdam.
