POTSDAM - The Elks Club in Potsdam will be the site of a murder Feb. 23.
Guests at the event will be the sleuths who will solve the mystery of who the murderer is, as well as what the motive is for the murder. This event will be staged by the Acme Mystery Company of Syracuse. Cocktails will be available from 5 - 6 p.m. The actors will set up the room with programs and clues. The guests will be seated at 6:50 p.m. for salads and bread. At 7 p.m., the actors will enter the room for an improvisational mingle with the audience. They will converse and guests may discuss clues with the actors. Guests may also trade clues.
At 7:30 p.m., the first act will begin and, at the conclusion of this act, the crime is committed. The body will be removed so the guests may proceed with their dinner at 8 p.m. At 9 p.m., the actors will return with Act Two. At the end of this act, the guests will be given an opportunity to guess who done it.
At 9:20 p.m., the actors will wrap up the show with Act Three. This will be followed by an awards ceremony for the three best guesses and the three worst guesses. Winners will receive a certificate of achievement. Prizes may be given away, as well.
This murder mystery event is being sponsored by the Dick Murphy/Dalton Guyette Memorial Youth Project. The Project provides children in poverty the equipment, transportation and/or fees to participate in activities throughout the local communities, such as any sport or athletic activity.
