Hammond rebounds over Hermon-DeKalb; Heuvelton, Edwards-Knox earn NAC West Wins

Heading into the final week of the NAC Boys Basketball campaigns, Hammond rebounded from loss at Edwards-Knox on Tuesday with a 60-49 win over Hermon-DeKalb.

Heuvelton rolled past Clifton-Fine 51-28 and Edwards-Knox upended Morristown 67-53. Lisbon and Harrisville was postponed to due transportation problems at Harrisville.

Hammond 60, H-D 49: The Red Devils looking to secure a playoff home game took a 9-0 lead against the Demons and made it stick. “We got off to a good lead and Hermon-DeKalb battled within four or five and they we go back out. We’ve got to play more consistent,” said Hammond coach Brad Rogers.

Nolan Martin delivered 24 points for Hammond (6-10, 5-7 NAC West) while Ryan Proven added 16 and Darin Bresett worked the paint for 10. Brock Tulley added five.

Cody Merritt scored 15 for Hermon-DeKalb (3-12, 3-9 NAC West). Jaron Robinson tallied 13 with three three-pointers. Zach Robinson chipped in eight.

Heuvelton 51, Clifton-Fine 28: Playing several players equally, the Bulldogs (11-5, 9-3 NAC West) took a 26-8 lead at halftime. Matt Guardino scored 13 points for Heuvelton while Joe McDonnell added 11 and Mike Guardino chipped in nine.

Chase Koster scored 12 for the Eagles (1-15, 0-12).

Edwards-Knox 67, Morristown 53: Kaden Dandrow dropped in a season high 37 points and Chris Davison and Jesse Bullock tallied 10 and seven leading the visiting Cougars (14-2, 11-1 NAC West) past the Rockets (3-12, 3-9 NAC West) in Coaches vs. Cancer night.

“Kaden just attacked the basket well. We played well but got into late foul trouble and we just don’t have depth,” said MCS coach Rich Marshall whose team was outscored 22-16 in the second quarter and 16-11 in the fourth.

Dakota Marshall scored 17, Ryan Vollmer added 15 and Bobby Simmons tallied 13 for Morristown. “Dakota, Bobby and Ryan really gave us a solid effort tonight,” Marshall added.

Chateaugay 47, C-P 29: Devin Barnes scored 12 and Noah Bowes tallied 10 for the Bullodgs (12-4, 10-1 NAC East) over the Colts (7-9, 4-6). Jake Angleberger scored 10 for the Colts.

SRF 67, P-H 19: Caleb Green fired through 34 points to lead SRF (16-1, 10-1). Anthony Gibson added 11 followed by Brandon Votra with nine.

For P-H (0-13, 0-11), Mike Burns netted seven points.

Tupper Lake 49, SLC 48: Tupper Lake (9-5, 5-1 NAC North) rallied from a 32-13 deficit at the half and completed their comeback in the fourth where a three-pointer at the buzzer by Cody LaPierre capped a decisive 21-7 run.

Mitch Keniston anchored the Tupper Lake offense with 17 points. Zane Ramsdell led SLC (8-9, 4-3 NAC North) with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Josh White added 10 points.
