POTSDAM — Village police charged Aaron M. Rist, 19, Dover, N.H., with second-degree menacing at 4:28 p.m. Friday in connection with an alleged slashing early Thursday that wasn’t reported to police by Clarkson University officials for more than 24 hours.

“The Potsdam Police Department was alerted by Clarkson University of an altercation which occurred on their campus on Thursday. After investigating the incident it was determined Rist became involved in an altercation with another CU student and had displayed a folding knife with a 3 inch blade,” according to a blotter release from village police released Saturday morning.

Mr. Rist was released on an appearance ticket for Potsdam Village Court.
