DWI - LOUISVILLE - St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies charged John G. Smith, 27, of Massena with driving while intoxicated following a property damage accident early Saturday morning on state Route 37 in the town of Louisville. Deputies said Smith was westbound on state Route 37 when he reportedly fell asleep, went off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, careened back into the roadway and came to rest in the middle of the roadway. He reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.16 percent, double the 0.08 percent threshhold that constitutes a DWI charge. He was also ticketed for crossing hazardous markings. Deputies were assisted on the scene by the Massena Police Department and Louisville Fire.
