DWI - MASSENA - A suspicious person complaint on Perkins Road early Wednesday morning led village police to a driving while intoxicated arrest.
Village police charged Carl L. Crump, 38, of 48 Willow St., Apt. 1, Massena, with driving while intoxicated and refusal to take a breath test at 2:36 a.m. Wednesday.
He was arraigned Wednesday morning by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $1,000 cash.
Village police said they had observed a large man wearing a coat with Hot Rod on the back leave a Park Avenue business shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday, get into a green truck and drive out of the village on Outer Willow Street.
Approximately 10 minutes later, police were dispatched to 9 Perkins Road for a possible breakin complaint. Police said they located an apparently highly intoxicated Crump and his green truck at that location. He refused to take field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, police said.
