MARTINSBURG A New Jersey man was injured at 8:48 p.m. Tuesday when his snowmobile hit a trail groomer on Graves Road in the town of Martinsburg.
Lewis County sheriffs deputies said Michael L. Maczynski, 39, Mays Landing, N.J., was driving south when he met a pair of northbound groomers from Valley Snow Travelers.
While able to avoid the first one, operated by Cody L. Farney, 21, Lowville, Mr. Maczynski hit the blade of the second one, driven by Mr. Farneys brother, Dallen H., 22, Lowville.
He was treated by Lewis County Search and Rescue and Martinsburg Fire Department personnel, then flown to Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, Vt., for treatment of multiple leg fractures.
An investigation into the accident is continuing, deputies said, and charges are expected.
