PORT LEYDEN — A 90-year-old Port Leyden man was listed in serious condition Saturday night with injuries suffered in a two-car crash at 10:58 a.m. Friday at Route 12 and Hells Kitchen Road in the town of Leyden.

State police said Frederick B. McDougall, 90, was driving north on Route 12 when he rear-ended a vehicle driven by Margaret A. Compo, 62, Port Leyden.

He suffered a broken neck and was flown to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, where he initially was listed in critical condition, police said.

Police said Ms. Compo apparently stopped to make a left-hand turn onto Hells Kitchen Road but hadn’t signaled when the crash occurred.

No charges have yet been issued, but an investigation into the accident is continuing, police said.
