Ogdensburg resident Charles E. Lake today will belatedly receive the Bronze Star for his U.S. Army service in the Korean War in 1950.
Mr. Lake, 81, of 1022 Congress St., will be at Ogdensburg City Hall at noon to receive the medal from U.S. Rep. William L. Owens, D-Plattsburgh.
Mr. Lake was due to receive the honor upon his discharge in 1950. But lost service records and bureaucratic delays kept him from getting until he was finally notified by the Army in November.
Mr. Lake was an infantryman in the Army 21st Regiment, 3rd Battalion, 24th Division, Company K.
