Better Health Chiropractic of Watertown, an independent practice started by Dr. Renee J. Petitto, will open in February next to the office of Maxon Chiropractic at 21101 Route 12F, Suite 5.
Mrs. Petitto, who earned a doctorate in chiropractic medicine in 2011 at New York Chiropractic College, Seneca Falls, completed on-site training with Dr. Tomm Maxon at Maxon Chiropractic as preparation for starting her own practice. She said her practice will provide thorough physical evaluations to develop independent treatment plans to help patients increase their joint mobility, focusing on the spine, ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, wrists and hands. She said she looks forward to working with military members stationed at Fort Drum.
These men are athletes who are running and jumping, said Mrs. Petitto, who served in the Marine Corps. As a former service member I know what goes on, and I dont think a lot of their musculoskeletal needs are being met. We can address the feet, knees, elbows and hands here with just some simple adjustments.
Treatment plans are developed for patients so they can conduct physical exercises on their own, she said, rather than making multiple office visits.
We want people to be independent and feeling well soon, making sure theyre pain-free, she said.
Mrs. Petitto earned her bachelor of science degree in biological studies in 2006 from SUNY Potsdam, graduating magna cum laude. Her husband, Carl A., is the manager of Gregs Restaurant, Gouverneur.
An open house introducing the new practice, which is now accepting patients, will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Feb. 4 and 5. Office tours, free food and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.
Better Health Chiropractic will be open seven days a week. Call 782-0440 to make an appointment, or visit www.drtomm.com for more information.
