MASSENA - Four area students have been nominated by Rep. William Owens for a service academy.
Mr. Owens nominated Matthew Whitcomb of Massena and Sarah-Maria Choong of Potsdam for the United States Military Academy, West Point.
He also nominated Jordan Hart of Massena and Matthew Whitcomb of Massena for the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md.
Altogether, Mr. Owens, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, nominated 21 students to service academies, according to release issued by his office on Monday.
A member of Congress can nominate students to attend an academy if the students meet eligibility requirements and submit a detailed application.The four service academies that accept nominations include the Air Force, Army, Merchant Marines and the Navy.
