CANTON - Canton-based state police charged Randy S. Guyette, 23, of 125 Pink Schoolhouse Road, Canton, with criminal obstruction of breathing, second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree harassment following a domestic incident that occurred late New Year’s Day.

Police said Guyette was involved in a physical domestic with his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend at about 11:30 p.m. at her home on state Route 11 in Canton. They said Guyette was involved in a verbal argument when he became physical, shoving his ex-girlfriend several times and choking her. When she was free and told Guyette to leave, he refused and the domestic continued for some time before Guyette shoved her into a refrigerator and left on his own.

Guyette was arraigned in Pierrepont Town Court and released on his own recognizance, to reappear Wednesday afternoon in Canton Town Court. A stay away order of protection was issued by the court.
