A Watertown resident was charged Sunday with second-degree aggravated harassment after allegedly sending a threatening message to his mother on Facebook.

According to city police, Lawrence T. Merritt, 21, of 122 Elm St., sent a message to his mother, Pearl E. Coulibaly, stating that he was going to punch her in the face and causing her to feel threatened.

Arrested at his residence at 7:23 p.m., he was processed and held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment in City Court.

Ms. Coulibaly requested an order of protection against Mr. Merritt following the incident, police said.
