LOWVILLE — The state Department of Environmental Conservation has removed a former AMF Bowling plant on Trinity Avenue from a hazardous-site list.

The 5502 Trinity Ave. site on Friday was deleted from the state Registry of Inactive Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites following a requisite 60-day notification period and 30-day public comment period, according to a DEC release.

The building was used as a bowling pin manufacturing facility until the early 1970s, when AMF moved to Utica Boulevard. It has been used in the past as a warehouse, as well.

Underground chemical tanks were removed in 1986, and a groundwater remediation system was installed. An environmental cleanup project at the site was done in 2007 and 2008.
