Two Watertown residents on Saturday were accused of shoplifting at Walmart, 20823 Route 3, while taking a 2-year-old boy along for the ride.
Jefferson County sheriffs deputies charged Billy J. Beach Jr., 21, of 421 W. Main St., and Courtney S. Snyder, 20, of 704 LeRay St., with petit larceny and endangering the welfare of a child. Ms. Snyder also was charged with driving an unregistered vehicle.
Deputies said the pair attempted to steal $140.51 worth of merchandise from the store.
They are to answer the charges in Watertown Town Court.
The child was turned over to a family member, deputies said.
Mr. Beach in September was sentenced in Jefferson County Court to six months in jail and five years probation for helping to steal construction equipment from a storage building belonging to Lunco Inc. on Summit Drive in the town of Watertown.
