NORWOOD The Norwood Study Committee will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday to discuss the results of a study to determine whether the village should dissolve, stay as it is or incorporate its own township.
The 74-page report was a result of a monthslong study by the Center for Governmental Research, Rochester. It concluded that dissolving would save village residents tax money by sharing more services with the towns of Potsdam and Norfolk.
Creating a new town likely would raise taxes for residents now living outside of village limits, and likely would provoke a political battle with Potsdam.
Regardless of what is discussed next week, the report is only a preliminary part of the process. It still will be months before action can be taken or final decisions made.
