Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies charged Johnny C. Forney, 21, of 35220 Carpenter Road., Antwerp, with first-degree criminal contempt, second-degree harassment, fourth-degree criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday in the town of Philadelphia.

Mr. Forney is accused of violating a protection order held by Elizabeth A. Davenport, Theresa, when he hit her over her right eye three or four times while she was driving on Holkins Road in the town of Philadelphia.

Their 18-month-old son was riding in the vehicle, which was going 40 to 45 mph at the time, deputies said.

Mr. Forney also allegedly broke Ms. Davenport’s cellphone during the dispute.

He was held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $500 bail and is to appear in Leray Town Court for a preliminary hearing.
