NORFOLK - The staff at Norwood-Norfolk Central School recently chose the Students of the Month for September. The students are selected for their academic achievements, integrity and leadership in the school and throughout the community.

Leah Livernois is the Freshman Student of the Month. Leah is the daughter of Carrie and Glenn Livernois of Norwood.

Leah likes to run, play the trumpet and write. She is also involved in Tae-Kwon-Do at SUNY Potsdam. She is in Key Club, Student Council, Jazz Band, Science Olympiad and runs cross-country along with indoor/outdoor track.

Leah wants to graduate in the top 10 percent of her class and go to a good college.

Kirstin Barkley is the Sophomore Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Melanie and Peter Barkley of Norfolk.

Kirstin likes sports and traveling. She is in Varsity Club, Student Council, Robotics and Travel Club. She also plays varsity soccer, hockey and softball.

Kirstin would like to go to nationals for hockey, college to study medicine and travel around the world.

Alexis Delosh is the Junior Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Tanya Delosh, Norwood, and Fred Delosh, Gouverneur.

Alexis likes to play sports and hang out with friends. She participates in soccer, softball and Varsity Club.

Alexis plans on going to college to become a nurse.

Mikayla Frego is the Senior Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Jill and Artie Frego of Norwood.

She enjoys playing sports and karate. Mikayla participates in soccer and softball. She is also a member of Varsity Club and Honor Society.

Mikayla plans to go to college for pre-health with a major in biology, eventually becoming a physician’s assistant or another health care professional.

Each student that was chosen received a gift card from a local restaurant. The businesses that donated are the Hotel Grande and Al Smith’s of Norfolk and The Hometown Café and Lobster House of Norwood.
