Democratic Rep. Bill Owens' campaign is sending automated calls touting his endorsement by the National Rifle Association.

"As a hunter and sportsman who values Second Amendment, I want you to know that Congressman Owens has been endorsed with an A+ rating by the NRA because he will protect our gun rights," Skip Maggy of Dannemora says in the 30-second call.

Mr. Owens faces Republican Matt Doheny, who received an AQ rating from the gun group. An AQ rating is the highest one can receive without having taken a vote.
