County Boards of Elections will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon for absentee voting.
Some people won't be in Jefferson, St. Lawrence and Lewis counties on Tuesday, when voters go to the polls in person. The extended hours are all the more important because some Jefferson County residents are being dispatched to New York City and New Jersey in the wake of Superstorm Sandy, which devastated downstate areas and other parts of the Atlantic Coast.
The New York State Board of Elections said that today is the final day to postmark or fax in applications for absentee ballots. The deadline for applying in person is Monday, the board said.
The Jefferson County Board of Elections is located in the county office building, upstairs from the Department of Motor Vehicles, at 175 Arsenal St. The St. Lawrence County Board of Elections is located at 48 Court St., Canton. The Lewis County Board of Elections is at 5439 Shady Ave., Lowville.
