The early-season accolades continue to roll in for St. Lawrences Kyle Flanagan and Matt Weninger.
Both were honored again by ECAC Hockey as Flanagan was named as the conferences player of the month and Weninger chosen as goalie of the month.
Flanagan, a senior captain, leads the nation in points (11) and is tied for the lead in goals (5) with A.J. Treais of Michigan. Flanagan is currently tied for first in the nation in power-play goals (3) and ranks first in power-play goals per game (0.75).
He recorded a seven-point weekend (2 goals-5 assists) in a pair of 5-0 and 5-1 victories at Maine on Oct. 19-20.
In addition, Flanagan was recognized nationally as he was selected as the Hockey Commissioners Association National Division I Player of the Month for October.
Weninger, a junior, has backstopped St. Lawrence (3-1-0) to its best road start since 1998 with a season-opening split at Western Michigan and the sweep of Maine. His 30-save shutout against the Black Bears was the fifth of his career and he averaged 34 saves per game in October, including a high of 39 saves in a 3-2 loss to Western Michigan.
Flanagan has already been tapped as player of the week twice already in the young season with Weninger earning goalie of the week honors after making a combined 66 saves in the Saints pair of wins at Maine.
Also honored by the ECAC is Colgate freshman Tylor Spink, who was named rookie of the month with eight (3-5) points in seven games.
St. Lawrence returns to action by hosting Alabama-Huntsville (0-5-1) on Friday and Saturday in 7 p.m. starts at Appleton Arena.
