The folks at WPTZ are reporting that Republican Matt Doheny's ad hitting Rep. Bill Owens over his Taiwan trip uses a Chinese flag, instead of a Taiwanese flag.

"Although Taiwan is diplomatically a part of China and has never officially seceded, the Asian country does consider itself an independent nation," WPTZ reports.

Mr. Doheny avoided questions on whether use of the flag was misleading.

Mr. Owens, D-Plattsburgh, was accused of taking a lobbyist-organized trip to Taiwan that broke House ethics rules.
