Jefferson County Legislator Steve Harter, R-LeRay, has stepped down effective Sunday, according to Don Coon, the county GOP chairman.

Mr. Coon said that Michael A. Montigelli, a former Black River Planning Board member, would replace Mr. Harter.

Mr. Harter is stepping down because he's selling his house and moving to the town of Watertown, and he doesn't appear to have any lingering political ambitions, telling Legislator Bobby Ferris that he has his vote.
