The Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Auxiliary recently held its annual spring dinner at the Gran-view Restaurant.

The CHMC Auxiliary is once again a recipient of the Healthcare Association of New York State Advocacy Award.Each year, HANYS’ recognizes auxiliaries for their advocacy efforts on behalf of their hospitals and community.

Scholarships were also presented that night to five students in the amount of $500 each. The graduating seniors were Makenzi Stevenson, Sarah Weir, and Alexandra Barr from Ogdensburg Free Academy and Kellas Lowery from Morristown Central School. CHMC Employee, Noelle Polniak was the recipient of the Adult Scholarhship. All students are pursuing a career in the medical field.

Auxiliary President, Mary LaCombe presented three checks to CHMC President and CEO, Mark Webster, CHMC Board of Directors Chair, Maureen Missert, and Debra King, CHMC Radiology Manager. The first check was in the amount of $100,000 that was presented to Mark Webster that will go towards the Auxiliary’s new pledge for the next future capital campaign. A second check was presented to Ms. Missert in the amount of $20,000 that will be used for renovations to the CHMC Auditorium. A final check was presented to Radiology Manager, Debra King in the amount of $5,000 that will be used for the new Breast Health Center at the medical center.

The guest speaker for the night was an Auxiliary member, Barbara Barlow. Ms. Barlow spoke about her experience volunteering at the White House last November.

Other guests present for the evening were members of the Massena Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
