CARTHAGE The annual Black River Watershed Conference will be held this week.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Carthage Elks Lodge, with registration to begin at 8:45 a.m.
Speakers will cover a range of topics including climate change, recreation, invasive species, wildlife, soils mapping and current and ongoing Black River Watershed projects.
The conference, recommended in a watershed development plan completed in 2010, is being organized and presented by Tug Hill Commission, Lewis County Soil and Water Conservation District and state Department of Environmental Conservation Region 6.
A $15 fee includes lunch. Advance registration is required by calling Carla Luther at Lewis County Soil and Water Conservation District at 376-6122.
