POTSDAM - More than 700 Clarkson University students will be granted bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees at commencement ceremonies at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
An additional 196 students received degrees at a winter ceremony.
The weekend will also be marked by the commissioning of United States Army and Air Force ROTC (Reserve Officers Training Corps) cadets at 4 p.m. Friday.
Receiving honorary degrees and addressing students, families and guests will be:
- Dr. David G. Nathan M.D., president emeritus of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, physician-in-chief emeritus at Childrens Hospital Boston, and Robert A. Stranahan Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School
- Radovan Stanislav Pejovnik, rector and professor of materials science at the University of Ljubljana in Ljubljana, Slovenia
- George C. Schatz, the Charles E. and Emma H. Morrison Professor of Chemistry and of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Northwestern University
During the commencement ceremony, faculty members will be honored with the John W. Graham Jr. Faculty Research Award and the Clarkson University Distinguished Teaching Award.
The Levinus Clarkson Award and the Frederica Clarkson Award will be bestowed upon two students, respectively, who have demonstrated unsurpassed scholarship and promise of outstanding academic achievement.
