Kellie Greene, a candidate for the Republican nomination to take on Democratic Rep. Bill Owens in November, came out against Bv7, a new water-level management plan for the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario.
"Bv7 has serious issues that have not been adequately addressed and the impact on the Lake and homeowners all along the lake shore is going to be potentially devastating!" Ms. Greene wrote on her campaign's Facebook page.
Jefferson County legislators, Mr. Owens himself and Ms. Greene's June 26 rival, Matt Doheny, all support Bv7. So does environmental group Save the River.
Allowing water levels to fluctuate more would help keep animal habitats healthy, they argue.
