Rep. Bill Owens says he's concerned about President Obama's plan to speed up wind power development.
And if a Tuesday vote goes through, the Jefferson County Legislature will also have signaled its displeasure.
The county's Planing and Development committee will take up a resolution opposing wind turbines in the eastern basin of Lake Ontario at its meeting on Tuesday.
Given previous opposition to wind power projects in the great lake to our west, the resolution should fly through.
Time will tell whether this opposition is quixotic. One of the major trends in wind-power development seems to be the centralization of siting decisions, away from the disparate town zoning and planning boards. That happened on the state level, with Article X, and now on the federal level with the memorandum of understanding between Mr. Obama and Mr. Cuomo, which could further grease the skids.
