Republican Matt Doheny is in Washington, D.C. right now attending "candidate school," a two-day event put on by the National Republican Congressional Committee.

National Journal reports that the opportunity to attend the speeches and presentations from top Republicans are afforded to the "strongest GOP challengers in the country this year."

Among others, they'll meet with Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., whose budget plan will become a much-discussed document in the November elections.

Mr. Doheny is looking to take on Rep. Bill Owens, D-Plattsburgh.
