The Clinton County Republican committee on Wednesday endorsed Assemblywoman Janet L. Duprey, R-Peru, for re-election. She received 70 percent of the vote; Karen M. Bisso received 20 percent, and David J. Kimmel received 8 percent, said Donald Lee, party chairman. One person abstained.
Ms. Duprey, who voted to approve gay marriage in 2011, is facing a challenge from the right again. She beat a Conservative and Democratic opponent handily in 2010, and if she prevails in the Republican primary, she’ll probably have to do so again; the Conservative Party won’t give her their line because of her gay marriage vote. The proposed district stretches into four St. Lawrence County towns.
