Rep. Bill Owens picked up an endorsement from a group that supports candidates who served in the military.
All of the candidates that the Veterans Alliance for Security and Democracy has supported are Democrats. It was formed in response to the "Swiftboat" attacks against Sen. John Kerry, D-Massachusetts, when he ran for president, according to its website.
"Bill Owens has proven in just a very short time in Congress that he'll be a strong champion for veterans' issues," the organization's president, John Ford, said in a news release.
Mr. Owens, D-Plattsburgh, is a retired Air Force captain.
