DiNapoli calls out tardy fire districts

New York state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli is out with a report today that lists the fire districts that haven't filed required paperwork under the state's new property tax cap, and boy, there are quite a few of them.

Indeed, more than half of the state's fire districts didn't file their tax levy information on time, including numerous districts in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties. Under the tax cap agreed upon by Gov. Andrew Cuomo and legislative leaders, all branches of government — not just your town, village, county and city boards — are subject to the cap.

Alarm bells didn't go off at fire districts across the state, however.

Here is a list of north country districts that failed to report, according to the comptroller:
