I love voters' guides as much as the next guy, but the Business Council of New York State isn't doing any favors by including an error on theirs.
The Business Council, which represents businesses around the state and pushes for low taxes and less regulations, gives Republican Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush a 70 percent ranking, one of the highest in the Assembly.
But the ranking gives him credit for voting in favor of Article X, which he, in fact, voted against.
Article X is the law that brings many power-plant siting decisions into Albany's purview — including wind power decisions. A hot-button issue up here.
This obviously isn't Mr. Blankenbush's fault. But it's worth pointing out; if voters are to be guided, they should be guided well.
The Business Council correctly (I'm saying the tally was correct, not necessarily the ideology behind it) dinged Republican Sens. Patty Ritchie and Joe Griffo for their opposition to Article X (they earned 71 percent, each), as well as Democratic Assemblywoman Addie Russell, who got a 40 percent.
Check out the rest of their rankings, which seem to check out, according to a quick fact-check (if not, email me).
