OGDENSBURG — State Sen. Patricia A. Ritchie is out of the hospital recovering from surgery to remove her gallbladder last week.
Mrs. Ritchie, R-Heuvelton, said in a Facebook post: "Doctor's orders to slow down just a bit, but I promise to keep you posted on some of the projects I continue to work on."
Her chief of staff, Graham Wise, said Mrs. Ritchie participated in a conference call with staffers from home this morning, and will be back in the office in about a week.
"The doctors expect a full recovery, and she feels better as every day passes," Mr. Wise said. "She wants to thank all those who emailed her and visited her, and all the doctors and nurses who tended to her."
Mr. Wise said that Mrs. Ritchie started feeling pains in her abdomen around Oct. 21. Doctors at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center found that she had gallstones. She underwent surgery on Oct. 24, and was out of the hospital on Oct. 27.
"She was in constant contact with the office. They had to pry her cellphone away before they put her under for the surgery," he said. "Everybody here has got their marching orders."
We here at TPI wish Mrs. Ritchie a speedy recovery.
