The first ECAC Hockey game of the season is just five days away. The conference season begins on Tuesday night when Quinnipiac travels to face Princeton at 7 p.m.
This weekend will be full of nonconference games.
Rensselaer (1-3) is hosting two games against Colorado College. Union (1-0-2) is traveling to New Hampshire Friday and hosting American International on Saturday. Colgate (3-1-1) will play at Niagara on Friday and host Niagara on Saturday. Cornell opens its season with a home game against Mercyhurst on Saturday.
Also on tap is the Ivy Shootout at Dartmouth. Princeton will play Yale at 4 p.m. and Brown will play Dartmouth at 7 on Friday. Princeton will play Brown at 4 p.m. and Yale will play Dartmouth at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Last Weekend
Quinnipiac (6-2) split a pair of games at Robert Morris, losing 5-4 on Friday and winning 4-1 Saturday. Here are some highlights from Friday's game.
Union played two road games last weekend, tying Niagara 3-3 on Friday and then winning at RIT 5-0 on Saturday. Here are highlights of Saturday's win over the Tigers.
RPI played the first game at Notre Dame's new rink, but lost 5-2 to the Fighting Irish. Colgate played to a 2-2 tie against Army in Hyannis, Mass.
There were also several exhibition games featuring Ivy League schools last weekend.
Harvard beat Western Ontario 7-4 on Friday. Cornell beat Guelph 3-2 on Friday. Dartmouth beat Western Ontario 4-2 on Saturday. Yale was upet 2-1 by Waterloo on Saturday. Cornell beat Carleton 5-1 on Saturday and Princeton beat Guelph 9-4 on Saturday.
Nationally Ranked
Five of the conference's 12 teams are in this week's U.S. College Hockey Online poll.
Yale is the top team in the conference at No. 10. Union is No. 11. Colgate is No. 16. Cornell is No. 19 and Quinnipiac is No. 20.
Dartmouth and Clarkson also received votes.
