Clarkson won its home opener Friday night, defeating Sacred Heart 3-0 in a nonconference game before 2,525 fans.
One of the spectators was former Golden Knight standout Dave Taylor. Taylor, who is the director of player personnel for the National Hockey League's St. Louis Blues, was there to watch Blues draft pick Paul Karpowich, who had his second career shutout, finishing with 23 saves.
One of Karpowich's saves was this breakaway stop of Sacred Heart's Drew George in the second period (the save comes at the end of this clip):
