Junior forward Pete Massar has left the Clarkson University men's hockey program and transferred to the University of Vermont.
Massar is a native of Williston, Vt., which is only eight miles from Burlington, where the University of Vermont's campus is located.
Massar struggled with a groin injury he had prior to his arrival at Clarkson and played in only 19 games in his two years with the Golden Knights. He had one assist in 13 games as a freshman and he scored one goal in six games last year.
He will have to sit out this season due to NCAA transfer rules.
"Peter transferred from Clarkson University to Vermont this year and approached us about joining our family," Vermont coach Kevin Sneddon said in a press release. "Though he must sit out a year, he adds depth to our forward line-up and will work hard to prepare himself for the following season. Peter is a very skilled forward and we look forward to helping his overall game develop this year."
