Sandy Creek graduate Lyndsay Rowell is having a big season for the SUNY Cortland softball team.
The junior pitcher went 4-0 in the recent NCAA Division III regionals, helping the Red Dragons (40-3-1) capture the title and advance to their 17th NCAA Division III World Series. Rowell, 24-2 on the season, pitched 23 of 25 innings in the regionals with a 0.61 earned run average, yielding 12 hits and striking out 16.
She fired a one-hitter on Monday as Cortland blanked Piedmont 8-0 in five innings.
Rowell has 19 complete games this year and has an overall 0.65 ERA in 162 1/3 innings of work with 121 strikeouts.
Cortland faces Linfield College (Ore.) in the opening game of the World Series at 11 a.m. Friday in Salem, Va.
