BINGHAMTON — South Jefferson wrestler Jon Crast won gold medals in both freestyle and Greco-Roman at the USA Wrestling New York State Championships this past weekend.

Crast competed at 130 pounds in the cadet division, for wrestlers ages 15 and 16. He won by fall in the Greco-Roman finals in just 36 seconds over Jake Soper of Rochester. Crast won his second gold of the weekend in freestyle, pinning Connor Russ of Oneida 43 seconds into the second round.

Fellow Spartan Daniel Smith lost 2-0 in the Greco-Roman finals at 145 to Declan Gray of Manhattan to take silver.

Ryan Snow of General Brown placed fourth in both the freestyle and Greco-Roman events at 105 pounds.
