POTSDAM — Junior David Kinney and sophomore Brian Chudy both earned Liberty League awards for their strong performances in leading the Golden Knights to three baseball wins in four games over Union.
Kinney was named Co-Performer of the Week for the second straight week after batting .444 against the Dutchmen. Kinney hit a game-ending and pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief to pick up the win. For the season, he is batting .386 with 20 RBIs and in the top five in 12 Liberty League categories.
Chudy was named co-pitcher of the week. He threw a complete game shutout Saturday against Union, allowing three hits and striking out seven. Chudy is 4-1, ranking second in the league in wins.
In lacrosse, Clarkson players Eric Gollands and Ryan Cole gained Liberty League men's awards after the Golden Knights earned a pair of one-goal wins over SUNY Potsdam and 15th-ranked RPI.
Gollands was named offensive performer of the week as he netted one goal against the Bears and had four-point game against the Engineers.
Cole made 19 saves against Rensselaer in his lone start of the weekend to earn defensive performer of the week. Cole stopped 17 of the final 22 shots in the final three quarters.
