Watertown Blue Sharks swimmers Michael Netto and Joseph Ongkingco established records last weekend at the state YMCA swimming championships at Eisenhower Park Aquatic Center in East Meadow.

Netto, who swam in the 13-14 age group, finished first in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 1.23 seconds, breaking a 35-year-old record. James Carbone of Rome held the previous mark of 1:02.15.

Netto took first in four events, also winning the 200 individual medley (2:03.23), 50 freestyle (22.80) and open 200 breaststroke (2:14.02).

Ongkingco, who competed in the 11-12 group, set a record in the 200 individual medley, swimming in a first-place time of 2:10.69. Timothy Nam of Flushing held the old mark of 2:11.41 set in 2003.

Ongkingco also won the 200 freestyle (1:59.93).

Blue Sharks swimmers who have qualified for the YMCA nationals are Netto, Ongkingco, Samantha Favret, George Labarr and Bradley McKinney.
