Last week was a bit crazy and I did not have time to write. The reason for the craziness was mostly due to the fact I was sent back to Florida on Wednesday. After practice on Wednesday I was pulled into the coaches’ office and they told me a regular was healthy again so I would be going back to the Everblades later that day. They told me it made no sense to keep me as an extra guy and not get any game action, which makes total sense to me.
I was obviously pretty disappointed, but I knew at some point I would most likely be going back anyways so it didn’t come as too much of a shock to me. I got some good feedback from the staff, which was nice, said my goodbyes and was on a flight back to Fort Myers that night (they sure don’t waste any time). Overall, it was a great experience to play nine games up there and get my feet wet. Sometimes I forget that I am still a rookie to pro hockey and have a long way to go, but it was a good measuring stick for my game.
Now that I’m back in Florida I get a bit of time to relax since the schedule here is a bit light right now. We split two weekend games with South Carolina and then had our rookie party on Sunday. The reason for the lateness of this event is because it is spring break time at the beaches around here so it always gets scheduled for around March sometime. I will spare everyone the details. After all I do promote a family atmosphere in this blog.
It was a fun day though and a good team-bonding experience. We have the day off today and I am just relaxing and catching up on some rest after the crazy schedule in Charlotte. We do not play until Saturday and Sunday and both are home games so we have a good full week of practice to get ready for those and get rested up. Other than that, not much else is going on around here, keep ya posted though.

Still not much going on around here. It feels weird not having any weekday games, brings me back to my college days. I’ve been using all these practice days to lift some weights and try and get my strength back up after that ridiculous schedule I went through in February. We have great facilities in Florida, especially our weight room so it’s good to take advantage of that type of thing.
My parents are coming this weekend so it will be nice to get to spend some time with them. I have been hearing about the brutal winter everyone up north is having, so they are excited to get away from that for a bit. It’s one of the perks of having a son playing hockey in a warm climate, I suppose.
Sorry northern readers, but I am heading out to lay by the pool for a bit, keep shoveling it will all be over soon.

I think I may have mentioned in a previous blog about my love for the Toronto Blue Jays baseball club. I would say it is the only pro sports team that I would consider myself a legitimate fan of.
I bring this up because today my Blue Birds happened to be taking on the Twins in spring training action, and the Twins play out of Fort Myers so this was a no-brainer for me; I had to make an appearance. Luckily for me, the old man pulled some strings and got me a couple tickets (He loves doing stuff like that because it makes him feel special and he loves to brag about his hook ups).
So after pracky today me, and my buddy Bobby Raymond went to the game. It was a bit rainy so there was a rain delay at the start of the game, which sucked, but once they started playing it was great to see my team play and do something a little different. The Red Sox also have their spring training facility in Fort Myers, so I may try to go catch a game there as well at some point. I will let it be known that I hate the Red Sox though. Go Jays.

Nice little day today with the family in town. They got in last night and I went with them to Naples where they are staying with family friends and got a nice steak dinner there. Today after practice I met back up with them in Naples and got some lunch and chilled by the pool for the afternoon until dinner. I must say it’s very weird to be sitting by the pool today knowing I have hockey games this weekend. That’s just something a Canadian boy cannot wrap his head around.
The trade deadline for our league was at 3 p.m. this afternoon and I haven’t received any call yet so I’m pretty sure I didn’t get dealt. Ha.
We have two big games this weekend against our big rival Greenville. Should be a fun weekend of hockey. Catch ya next week everyone.
