Clarkson (12-11-2 overall, 6-6-1 conference) travels to Cornell and Colgate for an ECAC Hockey road trip this weekend and will do so missing a few key players on defense.
Sophomore Nik Pokulok has missed the last three games and will be out at least one more weekend and junior captain Mark Borowiecki played with a sore ankle last weekend and will need some time off. Freshman forward Ben Sexton is still out while he recovers from a broken arm suffered in the first conference game of the season.
Coach George Roll discussed the injuries as well as the matchups with Cornell and Colgate today. He also talked about the one-year anniversary of assistant coach Chris Rogles, a former Clarkson goalie who began his time with the program about this time last year.
One player who has benefited from Rogles' arrival is junior goalie Paul Karpowich, who is enjoying his best season with the program. Karpowich discussed Rogles' impact as well as the collision aspects of playing goalie. He had an incident last weekend in the Brown game where he reacted to a slash.
Here's some footage from practice today of Karpowich and Rogles working on a goalie drill:
