The test gets even bigger for the Clarkson University men's hockey team after playing its last four games against three ranked opponents.
Clarkson (11-8-2 overall, 5-3-1 ECAC Hockey) will travel to face top-ranked Yale (15-2, 9-1) on Friday at 7 and then will face Brown (6-7-4, 4-5-1) on Saturday at 4.
It will be the first matchup against a No. 1 team for Clarkson since Colorado College came to Cheel Arena two years ago and settled for 1-1 and 2-2 ties with the Golden Knights. Clarkson's last win over a top-ranked team was a 4-3 defeat of Lake Superior State in an NCAA Quarterfinal series in 1991, which marked the school's last Frozen Four appearance.
Clarkson's defense will face a test against Yale, which averages 4.82 goals-per game. The Bulldogs have also converted on 26.6 percent of its power plays.
Two Golden Knights talked about the test facing the team this weekend:
Freshman Ben Sexton continues to mend from his broken arm suffered against Colgate on Nov. 5. His return could be anywhere from two to four weeks away. Sexton, in the orange jersey, was on the ice again Wednesday.
